Our story

The hill was always howling.

Wind in the trees, dogs answering back, something calling from up the road. This hill has always had a voice. When it became ours, we felt the call to keep the homestead going.

We are happiest outside, and happiest making things. A row of peppers in the garden, a bowl off the wheel, a piece of wood shaped in the studio. Most days start with dirt on our hands and end with something new on the table.

Spice is life. When you grow your own peppers, hot sauce is the natural next step. Every bottle starts in our garden and is made in small batches in our home kitchen.

In the garden

The peppers we grow, and where they end up. Tap one.

  5. 5. Bottle

Small batches from our home kitchen.

About us

Who is on the hill.

Ryan

Ryan grows the peppers, makes the sauces and runs Howling Hill Provisions. He grows his own superhots: habaneros, ghosts, reapers and scotch bonnets. When he is not tending the beds, he is cooking, smoking pork butts, on the slopes or on a trout stream.

Crystal

Crystal is the other half of Howling Hill: chief taste tester, gardener and head motivator, and the person who keeps Ryan's heat levels honest. Off the hill, she is a beach lover and an IPA and dirty martini enthusiast.

The crew

Frankie

"Frank" · Mini dachshund

The youngest of the pack, home at eight weeks old. Frank carries on the family wiener dog tradition.

Biggie Smalls

"Biggs" · Frenchie

The elder statesman, Crystal's first dog, and Frank's self-appointed mentor. Has opinions about everything, mostly snacks.

Gracie

Frenchie

Runs quality control. Nothing leaves the kitchen without her supervision.

In memory

Oscar

The original wiener dog, and the one who started it all. Missed every day.

Small dogs, big opinions. They do most of the howling now.
